www.superherohype.com/news.php?id=4495SCI FI has greenlit production on Painkiller Jane, a female superhero actioner from Vancouver's Insight Film Studios and Kickstart Comics. Production on 22 one-hour episodes will begin next month at Insight Film Studios in Vancouver. The series will premiere on SCI FI starting in January 2007, followed by a domestic broadcast weekly syndication window in Fall 2007. Cast has not yet been finalized. Based on the eponymous comic book created by Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada, Painkiller Jane is the story of Jane Vasko, a young researcher trying to make a difference as the world faces its greatest drug addiction epidemic. When Jane catches wind of a budding conspiracy, and a secret research program within her corporation, she turns DEA informant. Thus threatening to expose corruption within one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, Jane becomes a target. However, she is accidentally exposed to an experimental "cure" that renders her impervious to sickness and injury – but not pain. Unfortunately for Jane, these powers come at a price: she has less than a month left to live before the cure's unstable nature overtakes her. Jane continues to develop new abilities. After each injury, she heals stronger than she had been. But the pain remains and intensifies as she races to turn the tables on her pursuers, and save her own life.

Production of Sci Fi's Painkiller Jane television series is rolling on its fifth episode in preparation of the show's April 6 launch.
The series, starring Kristanna Loken, is filming in Vancouver.
"I just saw the first cut of episode #2 and Kristanna is looking great," said executive producer Jason Netter of Kickstart Entertainment, which recently added The Couriers to its list of film and television projects.
In other Painkiller Jane notes:
* In addition to the previously announced Loken, Rob Stewart and Noah Danby, the cast will include Sean Owen Roberts as Riley Jensen, an evolved computer whiz; Stephen Lobo as Dr. Seth Carpenter, the unit's doctor and scientist; Nathanial Deveaux as the caretaker of the subway; and Alaina Hoffman as Maureen Bowers, Jane's former DEA partner and friend.
* The first episode was directed by Nick Copus, whose credits include The 4400.

Yeah well, that could have something to do with it. I'm hoping that a lot of them are comic fans wanting to keep the show alive....unlike Blade..

they pretty much got rid of blade cause spike doesn't wanna show it anymore. from what i hear the 2nd season should be on the sci-fi channel if they can get it on there.

Yeah, I guess we'll see if that turns out or not...considering the Moon Knight tv series will be coming up proabably at the end of the year. But I don't know what channel MK is supposed to come on...I'm assuming Sci-Fi...
Maybe Painkiller Jane will do well. I hope it does, I'd like to see an actual comicbook tv series do well (besides Smallville of course).

"Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself," is Friday's new episode of Painkiller Jane.
Here's how the network describes the episode:
"A former FBI safe house is the scene of a number of mysterious incidents where witnesses report terrifying visions and vivid nightmares depicting each person's greatest fear. "
Also, Sci Fi will air a marathon of episodes on Friday, May 25, starting at 8 p.m. with the pilot episode. Following that will be "Toy Soldiers," "Piece of Mind," "Catch Me if You Can," "Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself" and "Breakdown."
-- I do believe I'm going to try to catch this marathon, then have someone else tape the rest of the season for me as I go.

i stopped watching it after episode 3, peice of mind. it just didn't really seem interesting. they need better powers. something powerful where there can be fight scenes and make the villians more powerful. not so powerful when you can just shoot them once and they die.

Well, I figured I'd catch this marathon and see if it's worth getting in to.
